SUMMER IN WINTER
Welcome to Summer in Winter - our second new beer of 2024!
The idea for the beer was a long distance collab between Swannay Brewery and part of the Swannay family, Harvey, who went to New Zealand snowboarding in 2019 and pretty much never came back.
As Harvey gets back into his summer habits of paddle boarding, running and hiking; here in Orkney we batten down the hatches for westerly gales and get outside when we can.
We love our Island Hopping - a quasi NZ pale ale - and love NZ hops generally. So we came up with a recipe to showcase some New Zealand hops varieties we don’t often use, including the luscious Nectaron (thanks Charles Faram).
The beer's aromas and flavours remind us of summer; the summer that is now dawning in New Zealand. But we brewed this beer in the short winter days of Orkney. Hence, Summer in Winter.
This is our first intentionally hazy beer, despite the fact it’s been through our brand new centrifuge.
We hope you enjoy the new flavours, and we look forward to brewing a lot more new beers in 2025.
